Everything Must Go

For my Fine Art degree exhibition, my project was about taking a taboo topic and placing it in a mundane setting. This taboo topic is about vaginas. Many people find discussing this body part uncomfortable, I personally believe this is problematic because uncomfortableness leads to not talking about vaginas which causes people to have misleading or completely false information about this part of the body. This misleading/false information can lead to mental and physical harm, for example someone believes they need to use vagina “hygiene” wipes which can actually cause an upset in their PH balance which can lead to things like thrush.

I hope by displaying this topic in a mundane setting, like a living room (this was at the end of covid so everyone got very familiar with their livingroom), it would express the normalisation of vaginas.

If you are reading this I challenge you to say the word “vagina” out loud 5 times without laughing.

I created a video inspired by period product adverts, I found that these adverts are not very realistic so I created my own.
